Durante le registrazioni viene allontanato il cantante Bobby Kimball (tornerà con la band 15 anni dopo) per problemi dovuti da alcool e droga e viene sostituito da David Williams, figlio di John Williams (celeberrimo arrangiatore e concertista di chitarra). Nonostante l'allontanamento di David Paitch, molte tracce con la sua voce vengono lasciate nell'album.
Notevole il contributo di musicisti tra cui spicca Miles Davis (tromba su Don't Stop Me Now), Don Henley (Batterista e cantante degli Eagles), David Sanborn e Michael Mc Donald (voce su I'll Be Over You).
